J.D. Power’s 2018 Home Buyer/Seller Satisfaction Study

The warning lights are flashing RED for agents and brokers to understand why consumer needs are changing and what they need to do about it in order to remain relevant in today’s market. Here are some excerpts from J.D. Power’s study that stood out to us. Whether you like it or not, this is where we are as an industry today.

• An increasing number of buyers and sellers, including first-timers in both categories, are foregoing the use of an agent altogether.

• There is a growing trend toward going self-service.

• This trend will continue unless agents and the companies they represent change their ways.

In our opinion, Realtors are always going to play an important role in the process BUT strategies need to be adjusted in this new age in order to continue to be successful.

Real estate professionals that focus on building relationships and providing value beyond listing data (as opposed to just waiting for the phone to ring) are the ones that consumers want to work with now. Remember, people want to work with people that they like and trust…and successful agents and brokers are building that trust by sharing local insight and neighborhood lifestyle information.

Why?  Because that will help you get discovered and keep you top-of-mind as a local expert where consumers are spending their time and self-servicing online.

Let’s work together to give consumers what they want.
