Buying a home is one of the most complex purchases we make in our lives. It may involve getting a loan, finding a Realtor, figuring out what neighborhood you want to live in, finding the right house in that neighborhood, getting a home inspector, title insurance, and other vendors to help facilitate the sale.

That is just a sampling of the steps one might take to buy a new home. The problem today is that the industry revolves around the listing portal model. The main function of listing portals is to aggregate price/sq ft data about all listings for sale in the US at any given time.

This is great if the only thing you needed to do was find the right home in the neighborhood you like. But it’s not. Most homebuyers still find house hunting to be a frustrating process. Especially because listing portals don’t match you with the best professional for you to work with. Just whoever pays the most to appear next to listings.

That’s why we are building WikiRealty.

Consumers are demanding integrated experiences with the brands and products they use everyday. And the process of buying a home starts well before you are crunching price and square footage numbers and continues well after you find a Realtor to work with.

We will help you find out what neighborhood to live in based on your lifestyle interests and things you care about first. You will get a feed and updates on all the real estate and lifestyle related news and information about the neighborhoods you are matched with.

By better understanding the dynamics of a neighborhood first with relevant hyper-local information, we hope we can help you make smarter decisions about where to live and work.

In this way, we are building a “Tinder for Real Estate”. Once you figure out the neighborhood that truly fits both your lifestyle and budget, we will help find a home and/or connect you with a Realtor who is an expert in the topics you actually care about most.

As we move to the next phase of product development, our focus will be on providing an integrated experience to facilitate the remainder of the purchase process. Once you know the neighborhood, Realtor, and home, we will connect you with other professionals in the Realtor’s sphere of influence. Communication, document signing, appointment scheduling and more will all be built into a guided experience making it quicker for every stakeholder to accomplish their part in the process and stay up to date on where everyone else stands.

In this way, we will shift to a “Tinder meets TurboTax for Real Estate” experience. From just starting to look to closing day, you will be able to do everything you need to do in just one app.

An integrated real estate product is not a novel goal to set out to build. But like listing portals, many companies who are setting out to build one are focused on their bottom line and not in providing a better user experience.
